About BioMed Varna
BIOMED-VARNA is a foundation established in accordance with the provisions of the Non-Profit Legal Entities Act. It is a research-driven initiative and interdisciplinary community that brings together faculty members, researchers, students, and early-career scientists with a strong interest in biomedical sciences and applied technologies. The organization fosters an interactive research ecosystem where experts from diverse academic backgrounds collaborate on innovative projects relevant to modern biomedicine, analytical science, and applied healthcare technologies.
The core focus of BioMed Varna is the development of interdisciplinary research teams that combine expertise in medical sciences, computer science, bioinformatics, biomedical image analysis, and data processing. These teams work on real-world scientific challenges, including the development of algorithms for biomedical image segmentation and analysis, the application of machine learning and neural networks for extracting meaningful insights from medical data, and the advancement of technologies with potential applications in diagnostics and biomedical research.
Awards
The members of BioMed Varna include university lecturers, PhD candidates, master’s and bachelor’s students who actively participate in research projects, seminars, and training initiatives. Its members participate in and help organize academic forums such as the Black Sea Symposium for Young Scientists in Biomedicine, as well as interdisciplinary seminars and innovation-focused events related to translational medicine, biomedical technologies, and data-driven research.
